FWM Final Exam Introduction
Forestry Works Manager Exam
Forestry Works Manager Exam – Candidate Briefing
This exam is designed to test how you, as a Forestry Works Manager, apply your knowledge in real-world forestry situations. Each question presents a short case study describing a realistic forestry problem. You will be given eight possible responses, some of which may sound very plausible. Your task is to identify the two responses that reflect the correct legal duties and best practice required of a Forestry Works Manager.
The exam draws on guidance from the Guidance on Managing Health and Safety in Forestry (GMHSF), the Forestry Industry Safety Accord (FISA) guides, and relevant UK regulations including PUWER, COSHH, Workplace Regulations, HASAWA, Noise and Vibration Regulations, and the Electricity at Work Regulations. Questions will cover a wide range of subjects such as emergency planning, welfare provision, contractor competence, machine safety, chemical handling, utilities, public interface, haulage, and integrated hazards like fire, noise, and vibration.
Please note that for each of the 45 scenario questions you will see eight options. Exactly two answers are correct. You must choose both correct answers to score the mark for that question. Selecting only one correct answer, or combining one correct with one incorrect, will not award marks. This format ensures the exam measures your ability to apply knowledge critically across a wide range of forestry management scenarios.
Passing this exam 90 percent confirms your ability to apply FWM responsibilities in practice, including planning, contractor competence, supervision, public safety, emergency planning, and welfare provision
